RE: Roof vents on 08 Jayflight 29BHS G2

I just picked up the 27BH G2 it has 2 vents 1 in the bathroom and 1 in the bedroom. Go to youtube and type in 29bhs G2 and meridian RV will do a complete walk through on the trailer. They did on e on the 27BH I found it informative..

RE: Wiring 2 batteries

Seems to be lots of battery questions lately. Lots of good information. What I would like to know is; If I install a second battery, do I wire the two batteries in parallel or just have them hooked up to the TT one at a time?
My initial thought process is to hook them up in parallel, but I'm concerned about circulating currents.
If they are 12 volts hook them up in parallel, 6 volts are in series. In series volts change amps remain the same. In parallel amps change and volts remain the same..

RE: Properly safety chain and breakaway lanyard configuration

I have always crossed my chains but when the tech hooked me up he did not cross them. I did ask him why but for the life of me I cannot remember his response. I think that there are so many ways of doing things that when you go to a place that you believe are professional you believe them. If you go to the doctor and they tell you have a cold you believe them. I myself when I hook back up I will cross my chains like I have always done unless someone can convince me this is wrong.

Jayco warranty

When I unhooked I noticed my break away cable had been dragging and is in 2 pieces. I did not hook it up the Tech at the dealer did. Also The cabinet door has a little nick in the front of it. And my brother noticed the taillight cover behind the ladder was siliconed on. Now the dealer I bought from has been notified. Now what should I expect when I go to the dealer here for warranty. Will they try and make me pay for the cable. Or should I expect thank you very much we will address all your concerns and you can pick it up in a couple of days.

RE: Does this Set-up Sound Okay?

I have the trailer brakes hooked up. It came with a WD that works great. It also came with a friction sway bar. When I pulled it home, I didn't have any problems other than struggling a little bit on some small hills. We are planning on taking a week long vacation in the camper this year, and would like to go to Branson, Missouri or Devil's Den, Arkansas (both trips would have lots of steep hills, small mountains). So, I guess my main concern was about the 3.55 gears and Trans cooler.
What would it typically cost to upgrade gears and add a trans cooler?
Thanks again to everybody that has helped so far.
I can't give you prices per say as I am canadian. However plan on 4-5 hours labour on the rear and probably 6 on the front to swap gears. Plus the price of parts. Here you would be looking at around 2 grand. so you have to ask yourself if bearing the added cost in fuel is worth it. If money is tight you can but not reccomended just do your rear then your front later. But 4wd will not be available and if you did choose 4wd then you will be spending even more money on repairs.

RE: Choosing between Jayco G2 and Keystone Sprinter?

I have the 27BH G2 I haven't camped in it yet. But I did let the kids go and sample the TV with DVD and dolby 5.1 surround. That comes atandard on the G2. I looked at the Keystone line dealer here sucks, then again so does the Jayco dealer. I went out of town to get my Jayco.

RE: sea to sky and hwy 99

Other then construction the road is fine. I use to live in Pemberton, just out side of whistler. Let me say this. The road has received the a name that I do not agree with. Yes people die every year on this road, however Whistler being one of BC's biggest attractions attracting tourists from around the world and with no major airport in whisler of coarse the road will be busy. Now with that said I know the road like the back of my hand, I know where all the hair pin turns are even where the police like to hide. So with that said I can make some pretty good time in a car driving that road. Now you take some who thinks they can drive and reach speeds well over the posted limit and when they come around a corner and a rock face is there waiting well the car will not win. What I am trying to say is drive slow take your time there are many pullouts to stop at and look at the ocean and differant view points. Whistler is beautiful and well worth the trip. Just keep your eyes on the road and drive. Also as mentioned the Duffy lake road just passed Mount Currie is very steep and has many switch backs, I took an eagle talon or american terms mitsubishi eclipse up that road and by the time I got about 2 miles up I was in second gear. so it will be a slow go.
Enjoy

RE: Does this Set-up Sound Okay?

I have a 2001 Ford F150 SuperCrew 5.4 V8 with 3:55 gear ratio. My GVWR range for my truck is 6001-7000 lbs. I have 2007 Jay Flight 27BH. The GVWR of the TT is 7500 lbs. Does this sound okay? I will mostly be towing on flat ground for short distances here in Kansas, but I would also like to venture out of state. I did pull it about 60 miles home when I bought it, and it seemed to pull okay then.
If the set-up is not okay, is it very easy (expensive) to modify my truck, and what does it take?
I know these same types of questions have been asked several times on this forum, and I would like to thank everybody that gives their experienced input. I would be clueless without this forum.
I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 with the Hemi. gear ratio 3.92. TT is a 2008 Jayco 27BH G2 Pulled it 400 miles yesterday no problems. I pulled through the mountains. Gas hurt alittle, but had power to spare. your TT probably weights about the same as mine 4800 dry 7500 GVW. Your gear ratio is a tad high in my opinion, however you did say you will be towing mostly flat so go for it. Use a WD hitch and have fun.

RE: Is Alaska Trip Afforable?

OK some of you may be jealous, but I live in Prince George BC. I can go to Alaska 2 ways one is 1300 miles the other is 850 miles. Now my question is never have been there is it really worth it. I have heard the road is rough. Is it beautiful there, I have thought about it. It would cost me going the shortest way about 1100 in fuel. I could do the whole trip for 3000 fairly easy. Just fuel groceries propane. I am 2 days drive. 12 hour days. or 4 if I take my time. what are your thoughts.

RE: Jasper to Prince George

Loking at thee hiway from Jasper to Prince George and wondering if this is agood route for dry camping and things to see. Am not in a hurry so crocked roads are not a problem just want to stay away from the rugh ones.
I live in Prince George and that road is good. Weather may play a role from time to time, however at this time of year it should be getting better. The drive is only 4 to 5 hours. As far as things to see I have not really paid attention I just drive I am going to camp at jasper this year but normally go the other way, south that is.

Backing up

Do you unhook your eq before backing up or just bare all the binding and popping. I have heard it is easier to back up with it unhooked.
What are the thoughts here

I'm Home!!!

Made the trip to Kelowna 400 miles. I averaged 15 mpg going there. Tank and a quarter of gas. Coming home 2 and a quarter tanks avg 10.5 mpg. And worth every penny. So my neww TT is in the drive way will post pics in a bit. Only problem was when they hooked it up they didn't route my break away cable right and it dragged. So now I have 2 break away cables. And the DW noticed a samll wood chip in the cabinet door. Get those 2 things fixed and perfect. We also bought an extended warranty so we have full coverage for 7 years.
Well gotta go play with the TT

RE: 2008 Springdale 267BHLGL

We looked at one. we liked the layout and the slide. However we opted for the Jayco 27BH G2 no slide but almost 1300lbs lighter and more options. didn't ask about warranty ours has 2 year bumper top bumper, 12 on the roof. The main reason we went with the Jayco is weight with gas prices going through the roof we wanted a lighter TT. Other than that I cannot say.

RE: Driving with 3rd gear on freeway?

I just bought a 18 feet travel trailer last week and am on the way to San Fransisco. My truck is F150 AWD Extended cab with 5.7 L v8,
the truck constantly shift from 4th to 3rd gear all the time. It's very hard for me to drive with top gear. Sometimes the transmission doesn't shift to the 4th gear even though I am on a flat road. I feel like I am pulling it with V6.
The trailer is 4000lbs dry weight and I am pulling with V8 5.7L engine.
I don't see much problem especially when I look at Nissan Titan or Toyota Tundra with much bigger trailer is driving faster than my truck.
I wonder it could be a transmission or engine problem? My truck has only
69000 freeway mileage and I take goog care of it.
It's also very hard to drive over 60 mph with top gear, Is it normal to drive with 3rd gear on Freeway? I am little concerned that the constant
gear shifts could be harmful for the AT/Transmission.
I found your first problem Ford to my knowledge never made a 5.7, 5.4 yes. Need to know year of truck tranny and gear ratio. and correct engine size would be good. Try 4.2, 4.6 and 5.4 then there was the 5.8.

RE: Towing Capacity 2003 Windstar

Just wondering if anyone knows the weight capacity that a 2003 Ford Windstar SE has. I what it to pull a 3000lb. Pop Up. The owners Manuel is not very clear it says 2000lb to 3500lb.
Thanks Bob
Windstars only had 2 tow ratings 2000 or 3500. You will need to find out if your van has the tow package. Best bet to do that is call ford with your VIN number, they will tell you. Just because you have the 3.8 does not mean you have the tow package.
On another note windstars are prone to tranny problems. If I were to tow with one I would not tow the weight you are thinking of. Unless it was local, within an hour or so. and no hills. I would hate to see you planning a big trip and the tranny go out on you.
